Self Love & Inner peace
What is self-love?
Self love and a inner practice go hand in hand of the most powerful ways to explore/understand yourself. An inner practice gives you the space and opportunity to find your own authenticity. Self love is a state of appreciation, valuing yourself as a human worthy of love and respect. Over time through developing a positive mindset your self love will grow. Part of this mindset for self love to grow is we also need to develop self compassion. This is being kind and understanding with ourselves when confronted with personal setbacks, difficulties or mistakes.
What does self-love mean to you?
One of the most important things to realise with self love is it will be experienced differently for everyone. Its very much a ‘work in progress’ and grows with experience, inner reflection and connection. Some of these characteristics may resonate with your own definition of self love:
- Nurturing and eating healthy
- Setting self care boundaries
- Accepting yourself as you are
- Non attachment to judgemental thoughts
- Standing up for yourself
- Being open to new opportunities
- Expressing yourself creatively and freely
Important steps we need to make
To achieve this self care ‘work in progress’ we have to take a few steps. Believe me your future self will thank you for this! Here goes:
- Start letting go of self-doubt and self sabotaging beliefs that are preventing you from going after your hearts desire and passion.
- As Susan Jeffers says 'feel the fear and do it anyway' start living outside of your comfort zone and see your confidence and happiness rise.
- Develop a inner practice so that you can change the relationship with your thoughts and stay where life really is!
- Being the 'skipper ' of your own ship. Putting your highest priorities first. Developing 'do-able' self care routines.
Why practice self-love?
Taking care of your own needs is important as: Self love helps reduce stress & recognise when it time to self-care and set boundaries.

Self love improves emotional resilience and prepares you for future challenges.

Self love can increase your happiness-accepting yourself as you are is linked to higher satisfaction in life-see yourself as a close friend.
